Apple Scripts for video editors...

In my daily job as a video editor I use Apple Script a lot. From automating backups and conversion of audio to moving projects from Avid to Final Cut Pro.
I've made a few of them available here.

Avid specific Scripts:

Fix OMFI Icons
A script that fixes a problem I've seen several times in different edit suites running Avid Media Composer 7.1. Sometimes the media files looses some of their information and their icons turns to gray standard document icons. Media Composer can't recognize them as media files and the Media Composer creates an awful lot of error messages during startup.
Select the "gray" media files and drop them on the Script. It then goes through each media file and restores its file- and creator type.
Works on Media Composer 8.x media files too.

Select OMFI Files
A scripts that will select either video or audio (SD2) media files within a folder, and a script that will lock or unlock files.

Final Cut Pro specific Scripts:

Fcp2ale version 2.x and ale2fcp version 2.x will only work under Mac OS 8.6 and 9.x - not under Mac OS X.
(well - they will actually work under classic but not very well... - For OS X use Sebsky Tools instead.)

ale2fcp 2.0
Converts ALE logs to Final Cut Pro 1.2.5 Batch lists (online documentation available here).

ale2fcp 2.1
Converts ALE logs to Final Cut Pro 2.0 & 3.0 Batch lists (online documentation available here).
(Changes since last version)

fcp2ale 2.0.2
Converts Final Cut Pro Batch lists to ALE logs (online documentation available here).
fcp2ale 2.0.2 works with FCP 1.2.5.
(Changes since last version)

fcp2ale 2.1.1
Converts Final Cut Pro Batch lists to ALE logs (online documentation available here).
fcp2ale 2.1.1 works with FCP 2.0 & 3.0
(Changes since last version)

Final Cut Pro & Avid - OS X

If you need ale2fcp and/or fcp2ale for OS X, you should check out Sebsky Tools. The functionality of the scripts are build in as a part of this utility. Sebsky Tools also provides the ability to automatically add timecode tracks to QuickTime movies using data from an ALE file.
Sebsky Tools are OS X only. Read more on www.dharmafilm.com/sebskytools/

All scripts are freeware. Send comments and bug reports to peter@dharmafilm.com
